RSIC CODE PACKAGE PSR-242 1. NAME AND TITLE SABRINA 3.54: Three-Dimensional Geometry Visualization Code System. 2. CONTRIBUTOR Radiation Transport Group, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, New Mexico. 3. CODING LANGUAGE AND COMPUTER Fortran 77; ANSI C. Version 3.54 runs on IBM, SUN, DEC, Apollo, Hewlett Packard, and Silicon Graphics workstations; Vax; and Cray (P00242/MFMWS/02). 4. NATURE OF PROBLEM SOLVED SABRINA is an interactive, three-dimensional, geometry-modeling code system, primarily for use with CCC-200/MCNP. SABRINA's capabilities include creation, visualization, and verification of three-dimensional geometries specified by either surface- or body-base combinatorial geometry; display of particle tracks as calculated by MCNP; and volume fraction generation. The November 1993 update was the initial release of SABRINA 3.54 and was a complete replacement of the RSICC package. Newer releases (including a Windows version) are commercially marketed by White Rock Science http://www.whiterockscience. com/order.html. For more information, follow the SABRINA link under Software Servers from RSICC's home page. 5. METHOD OF SOLUTION Rendering is performed by ray tracing or an edge and intersection algorithm. Volume fraction calculations are made by ray tracing. 6. RESTRICTIONS OR LIMITATIONS A graphics display with X Window capability is required. 7. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME The time required depends on the complexity of the geometry model, resolution, and the size of the display window. Most of the standard SABRINA examples take from a few seconds to a few minutes. 8. COMPUTER HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS Runs on IBM, SUN, DEC, Apollo, Hewlett Packard, and Silicon Graphics workstations running UNIX operating systems, Vax computers running ULTRIX and Cray computers running UNICOS. A graphics display with X Window capability is required. 9. COMPUTER SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS RSICC's version of Sabrina was developed in 1993. Modifications are required to run on newer computer systems. A UNIX operating system, Fortran 77 compiler, and ANSI C compiler are required. Optionally, PVM version 3.0 or higher for the distributed version; PostScript printer or viewer for disposal of hardcopy files may be used. SABRINA was tested at RSIC on an IBM RISC 6000 Model 550 under AIX 3.2.5 using the xlf FORTRAN compiler Version 2.3; SABRINA was also tested on a Sun Sparcstation 2 under SunOS 4.2, and SUN FORTRAN 1.4, OPENWIN Version 3. 10. REFERENCE K. A. Van Riper, "SABRINA User's Guide," LA-UR-93-3696 (October 1993). 11. CONTENTS OF CODE PACKAGE The package includes source directory, including makefiles and a PVM subdirectory, sabhelp file, examples directory, and PostScript pages of manual transmitted in tar format on either DC 6150 (150 MB), 4 mm DAT (2 or 4 GB), or 8 mm (2.3 GB) cartridge tapes. 12. DATE OF ABSTRACT April 1987, revised August 1989, December 1993, and May 1994. KEYWORDS: COMPLEX GEOMETRY; PLOTTING; WORKSTATION
